About Zeiter Eye Medical Group, Inc.
Zeiter Eye Medical Group, Inc. was founded by Henry Zeiter, MD in 1962. Dr. Henry operated ZEMG as a single MD practice until 1982 when Joseph T. Zeiter, MD, Dr. Henry’s nephew, joined the practice. In 1985 they opened the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) of Zeiter Eye, which was one of the first Ambulatory Surgery Center’s in the State of California.
In 1992, Dr. Henry’s son, John H. Zeiter, MD, joined the growing practice. Looking to further expand the capabilities and medical services offered, Zeiter Eye Medical Group was pleased to add Richard M. Wong, MD in 2001 and John C. Canzano, MD in 2002. Dr. Wong is a specialist in the treatment of glaucoma and Dr. Canzano is a retina specialist. In 2006, Harold H. Hand, MD joined the practice and Dr. Henry retired. Finally, in 2012, Dr. Joe’s son, Dr. Joseph Zeiter, Jr., joined the practice.
In August 2007, a new ASC, Zeiter Eye Surgical Center, Inc. (ZESC) was opened in Stockton at 1801 E. March Lane. The practice currently consists of seven ophthalmologists and six optometrists. The practice now has five full-time locations and three part-time locations, in addition to the Ambulatory Surgery Center, a Hearing Center, and four optical shops.
We anticipate the practice will continue to grow as the American population continues to age. As our practice continues to meet the needs of the Central Valley and the surrounding areas, we will continue providing excellent care for our patients while utilizing state of the art technology and equipment to do so.
