Get Better Vision Faster with LASIK

LASIK, or Laser-Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis, is the most commonly performed vision correction procedure. LASIK can treat nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism by permanently altering the shape of the cornea.

There are various techniques used to perform the laser vision correction procedure. Zeiter Eye is proud to offer Wavelight Allegretto laser. This method uses the latest technology to allow our ophthalmologists to reshape your cornea according to your specific needs.

Is LASIK Right for You?

An eye exam with an ophthalmologist is the best way to determine if you are a good candidate for LASIK surgery. In general, however, some people are better suited for the procedure than others. Below are some guidelines to determine if you are a good candidate for the LASIK procedure.

What LASIK Can Do for You

LASIK surgery can help you return to an active life. According to the Eye Surgery Education Council (ESEC), more than 90 percent of patients who undergo LASIK experience vision improved to 20/40—the minimum vision standard for driving an automobile or playing sports without corrective eyewear.

Although LASIK will not prevent age-related eye conditions or diseases, results are permanent. Most patients are able to return to their normal daily activities the day after surgery. For more information about LASIK or to schedule an examination, please contact Zeiter Eye today.

Wavelight Allegretto: Laser Vision Correction Designed Specifically for You

At Zeiter Eye, our ophthalmologists are proud to offer Allegretto from Wavelight, the company who performed the 1st Custom treatment in the world. Allegretto’s Wavefront Optimized laser not only allows our surgeons to customize your treatment to your unique vision needs, but it also makes it easy to correct for higher order visual aberrations affecting vision in low light situations.

The procedure needs 3 individualized measurements to customize the treatment for each patient. Each of your eyes’ unique curvature readings, pupil and prescription are measured and entered into the laser. Next, these measurements guide the laser during the vision correction process to shape each cornea using the Allegretto excimer laser.

Using this level of detail has shown to give 93% of patients in the FDA study 20/20 vision or better. Additionally, none of the patients had to come back in for an Enhancement (Secondary treatment to get rid any remaining correction). This laser has given 43% of patients in the FDA study better vision without correction after surgery than with the best correction they had before surgery. Imagine, being able to see the world around you better than you have ever been able to see before.
