Corrective Vision Surgeries

Get Better Vision Faster with LASIK

LASIK, or Laser-Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis, is the most commonly performed vision correction procedure. LASIK can treat nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism by permanently altering the shape of the cornea.
There are various techniques used to perform the laser vision correction procedure. Zeiter Eye is proud to offer Wavelight Allegretto laser. This method uses the latest technology to allow our ophthalmologists to reshape your cornea according to your specific needs.
The Alcon ALLEGRETTO WAVE® Eye-Q Excimer Laser, engineered by WaveLight, combines precision technology with excellent laser energy stability, high-quality components and reliability.
Built with pioneering Wavefront Optimized® principles, PerfectPulse Technology® is designed to control each laser pulse from its generation to the exact point where it contacts the cornea.  The ALLEGRETTO WAVE® Eye-Q Excimer laser platform aim to provide optimal laser vision correction for the physician and patient.
Enjoy life without glasses through LASIK surgery!
An eye exam with an ophthalmologist is the best way to determine if you are a good candidate and which procedure will provide the results you desire. In general, however, some people are better suited for one procedure as opposed to other options.
If you think you may be a good candidate for corrective vision eye surgery, find out for sure by contacting the skilled ophthalmologists at Zeiter Eye for a free consultation and evaluation.
What LASIK Can Do for You
LASIK, or Laser-Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis, surgery can help you return to an active life. According to the Eye Surgery Education Council (ESEC), more than 90 percent of patients who undergo LASIK experience vision improved to 20/40—the minimum vision standard for driving an automobile or playing sports without corrective eye wear. LASIK is the most commonly performed vision correction procedure and can treat nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), as well as astigmatism by permanently altering the shape of the cornea.

Although LASIK will not prevent age-related eye conditions or diseases, results are permanent. Most patients are able to return to their normal daily activities the day after surgery. For more information about LASIK or to schedule an examination, please contact Zeiter Eye today.

PRK as an alternative

PRK or Photorefractive Keratectomy is a type of refractive surgery used to reshape the cornea. PRK was the first surgical procedure developed to reshape the cornea, by sculpting, using a laser. Later, LASIK was developed. The same type of laser is used for LASIK and PRK. Often the exact same laser is used for the two types of surgery. The major difference between the two surgeries is the way that the stroma, the middle layer of the cornea, is exposed before it is vaporized with the laser. In PRK, the top layer of the cornea, called the epithelium, is scraped away to expose the stromal layer underneath. In LASIK, a flap is cut in the stromal layer and the flap is folded back.

High Definition Vision

There’s a big difference between “visual acuity” (20/20 vision is considered normal visual acuity) and “visual quality.” Many refractive procedures such as LASIK offer the promise of improved visual acuity but the quality of your vision may vary significantly based on the procedure you choose. The Visian ICL provides vision correction that goes beyond LASIK. It helps you enjoy sharper, clearer, and more vivid vision, with greater depth and dimension. It’s called High Definition Visian, and it’s available only with the Visian ICL.

Refractive Lens Exchange

Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) is another alternative to laser based corrective eye procedures. The RLE procedure is very similar to cataract surgery, but. RLE removes the clear natural lens and replaces it with an artificial lens of a different shape. This lens is generally designed to reduce or eliminate high degrees of farsightedness. RLE typically is used for severe vision correction needs.
