Zeiter Eye Medical Group, Inc. was founded by Dr. Henry Zeiter in 1962. Dr. Zeiter operated ZEMG as a single MD practice until 1982 when Dr. Joseph T. Zeiter, MD, Dr. Henry's nephew, joined the practice. In 1985 they opened Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) of Zeiter Eye, which was one of the first Ambulatory Surgery Center's in the State of California.
In 1992, Dr. Henry's son, John H. Zeiter, MD, joined the growing practice. Looking to further expand the capabilities and medical services offered, Zeiter Eye Medical Group was pleased to add Dr. Richard M. Wong, MD in 2001 and Dr. John C. Canzano, MD in 2002. Dr Wong is a specialist in the treatment of glaucoma and Dr. Canzano is a retina specialist. In 2006 Harold H. Hand, MD joined the practice and Dr. Henry retired.
In August 2007, a second ASC, Zeiter Eye Surgical Center, Inc. (ZESC) was opened in Stockton at 1801 E. March Lane. The practice currently consists of six ophthalmologists and four optometrists. The facilities include four full-time locations and three part-time locations, in addition to the two Ambulatory Surgery Centers.
We anticipate the practice will continue to grow as the American population continues to age. As our practice continues to meet the needs of the greater Stockton region, we anticipate adding more doctors, locations and state of technology equipment.
